My name is Charlotte Barnett; I study Media along with Fine Art, Photography and English Literature. I am studying Media as it interests me and wish to gain more knowledge and understanding on the subject to help me decide whether a career in film editing is what I will pursue in the future.

Feedback/Evaluation
After showcasing our film we put together a video of feedback and reactions; overall our feedback was very positive and successful.
Our aim was for our film to create fear in our audience and reach more than one age range, therefore based on this feedback our aim was achieved and this record provides evidence to support questions 4+5 in my evaluation.

Thud Productions
We also filmed our production company which has the theme of a ransom letter, fitting in the genre of our film. We cut out letters from newspapers to form the words Thud Productions and stuck them on a coloured board we found in the art room for a nicer background. Each word pops up with each beat of the music we found on LGFL Audio Site. We chose this song because it is catchy and although is does not really suit our genre, this does not really matter because production companies produce different genres of films and if we were a real production company, then we would too.
Changes And Improvements
After receiving audience feedback, we realised there were a few things in our opening that needed to be adjusted. For example, originally we had included a question mark after the title, however after hearing people didn't like it and researching a number of films we came to the conclusion that question marks are not used in film titles and make the title look amateur.

Here are the two different film openings to compare: the first in the original and the second is the improved.

New Script Changes
Laura: Oh My God Mum!
Mum: What's the matter? Aren't you pleased to see me home early?
Laura: I thought there was someone else in the house!
Mum: Don't be silly, come and help me unpack.

L: Mum! What are you doing here?! I thought you weren't back till tomorrow?
M: What? No. Didn't you get my text? My meeting got cancelled. Now come and help me unpack.
L: How was your trip?

15 Certificate
A 15 states a film must contain any of the following:

In our opening non of the above occur however if our film was to continue, there would be use of strong violence and frequent strong language.
By making our film a 15 rating we are aware this excludes a number of people from being able to watch it. However, in order to accomplish fear, emotion and anticipation in the audience and leave our audience taken back and lost in the adrenalin of the film, we need to include elements which are not appropriate for under 15's.
Our initial idea was to make the certificate a 12A, the idea was that our film would not be as violent or scary as a 15 entails, however after a lot of thought and group discussions we realise we wanted to make a scary, psychological film and by looking at inspiration such as Luther, (which our film opening was focussed on for ideas) we realised that too is a 15.

Sound So Far
Today I decided to start putting the sound together. I have so far (hopefully) completed the sound when Kieren walks in and have found all the audio clips we are going to use in our opening. In order to build tension in our film we are layering sound and I have found different heart beats to make the sound start slow and speed up, creating the illusion of terror. I am going to upload what we have done so far to YouTube.

Thud!
Lately the main focus in our group has been creating the perfect 'thud' sound for our 2 minute opening. We have tried so different things: dropping books, dropping a suitcase, un-copyrighted thuds etc. But have found nothing yet which has satisfied us. However this failure in on particular area has resulted in a success in another, we have decide our production company will be: Thud Productions.
